- This article is about Solomon, the King of Magecraft. For other characters named Solomon, see Solomon (disambiguation).
SolomonWP (ソロモンWP, Soromon?), Class Name Caster (キャスター, Kyasutā?), is a Caster-class Servant summoned by Marisbury Animusphere in the first summoning ritual performed by Chaldea Security Organization, participating in the First Fuyuki Holy Grail War of the Fate/Grand Order timeline. He qualifies for the position of Grand Caster (グランドキャスター, Gurando Kyasutā?).
Profile[]
Identity[]
Solomon, who was named the King of Magecraft (魔術王, Majutsu Ō?) for his mastery over Magecraft, was the son of David and Bathsheba. Alive from around 1011 BC to 900 BC, he ruled as the third King of ancient Israel, and was said to be a great king who made the country enormously prosper. He was known for making many excellent political measures in his position as king, but also left behind many anecdotes as a Magus. He married the daughter of an Egyptian PharaohWP, but was said to be later visited by God while he was dreaming on his bed. God said to Solomon, "You are qualified. Speak your wishes. I shall grant them", but Solomon only sought wisdom more so than gold or political power. The answer satisfied God, the answer being proof that Solomon possessed the qualifications to obtain "true wisdom." Solomon awoke with ten rings upon both hands, the proof of a wise man recognized by God. Those rings came to be recognized as the Ring of Solomon, the "source of the magecraft that employs angels and demons."[1][3]
Solomon came to be known for employing seventy-two demon gods as his familiars, later leaving behind a manuscript that came to be called the LemegetonWP or GoetiaWP that tells of the art of controlling demons. He was the first individual to build the Temple of IsraelWP. During his tenure, Solomon only accomplished a single miracle, but that was also said to exemplify his prudence. It was said that the people knowing that "the king is receiving God's protection" only a single time was best because more miracles could have served to frighten or corrupt the people. His single revelation established a "phenomena operation technique", Magecraft that could be performed by the hands of the common man that previously belonged only to those with connections to the Gods. Even without needing to utilize Magecraft, he was recognized by his reputation as the King of Magecraft throughout neighboring countries and was said to have left the world as a wise king.[1][3]
His death marked a great acceleration in the decline of Mystery, leading to the demise of the Age of Gods five hundred years before the time of King Arthur.[4]
Some myths also tell that Solomon wedded the Queen of Sheba, who traveled to Jerusalem and tested Solomon's wisdom with three riddles.[5]
Brishisan, the Director of the Mage's Association, and Kischur Zelretch Schweinorg, the wielder of the Second Magic, were Solomon's students.[6][7][8]
Appearance[]
Personality[]
Introverted, self-assured and passive. A laid-back king, without a hint of seriousness. The gist of his personality is "self-assured", but this is simply the power to "not read the mood". Thus, he is merely making statements on a self-assured manner, and his nature is that of a chicken. Although serious, he is not earnest and is constantly living at 80% power. He properly ascertained people, properly established laws and properly governed the country. Despite lacking in vigor, he was loved and respected by the masses as a wise, gentle king who was full of love.[1]
Yet, none of those traits came from Solomon's own will. Having been ordained as a king from the moment he was born, Solomon had no choice but to hear the voice of God and act accordingly. His psyche is dispassionate and (having been deprived of the freedom to sympathize with the joys and sorrows of people) inhuman.[1]
A gentle king that gives off a relaxed sense. "Confidence" is his main characteristic, but it is actually only his ability of being "unable to read the mood". As a result, he only makes statements in a confident manner, but is actually a coward (chicken) in his basic nature. Diligent but not earnest, he lives by putting only 80% of his maximum effort.
He properly ascertained of the people, properly established the law, and properly governed the country.
Although he is somewhat lacking in mettle, he is a wise and kind king, full of love, respected and beloved by his people. However, all of those traits are not actually by Solomon's own will.
From his birth, he had been ordained to be a king, to hear the voice of God and to live in accordance to it. There is no emotion within him; he is inhuman, deprived of the autonomy to sympathize with the joy and sorrow of the people.[2]
It is only when he becomes Romani Archaman that he finally acquires his original human nature.
His root is that of a pessimist and realist. Even though he speaks of wishful thinking as a mood maker, due to himself unable to think of that as more than pipe dreams, he is quite shameless in some respects.
He loves humans, but because he's a coward in nature who "does not want to see sad things", he ends up limiting himself with superficial relationships. On the other hand, he is capable of being good terms with pretty much everybody. Your typical affable friendly guy. When being faced with a dilemma, he has the bad habit of choosing to stay undecided and devoting himself to just observe, or just straight up runs away, so that the status quo is maintained. Due to Roman himself reflecting on that weakness of his, it only needs a few words, for someone in his surroundings to simply say "hang in there", for him to somehow hold his ground and display a resolution worthy of the King of Magecraft.[2]
Incidentally, any Servants would end up having "I don't know the reason but this guy's the one at fault here" as their first impression for Roman; and due to that they will unconsciously complain about him. The only ones who don't judge him negatively are those who aren't Servants, the contrarians, and the Berserkers that don't perceive evil as evil.[2]
Relationships[]
- David
- His father. And yet, David and Solomon have a relatively indifferent parent-child relationship. Even if Solomon declares that he would incinerate humankind, David would say "Mm, Solomon does say things like that" and just coolly observe. It is the same with Solomon; even if David declares that Solomon is a failure of a human being, Solomon would say "Well, Father does say things like that" and call it off just like that.[2]
- Cleopatra, Ozymandias
- Solomon was very fond of the Egyptian beauty, but didn't care much for the pharaoh.[2]
- Galahad
- The same with him, someone who was granted by God "the chance to have his prayer fulfilled". Solomon had wished for wisdom, but Galahad had wished for nothing. Solomon questions "Why?" in regards of that matter, and bears a sense of inferiority that comes from his subconscious regret, thinking that "I should have done so."[2]
Role[]
Fate/Grand Order[]
Solomon was the first successful Heroic Spirit summoned servant by Chaldea. He and Marisbury Animusphere emerged victorious in Fuyuki's Holy Grail War, Solomon wished for a life as a normal human and became Romani Archaman. The wish he entrusted to the Holy Grail was "to become human". Through the power of the Holy Grail, he did not "incarnate as a Heroic Spirit", but instead was reborn as a new human that had no relation to King Solomon.[1]
Final Singularity: Solomon[]
Romani Archaman reveals his identity as Solomon, as Goetia readies to kill Ritsuka Fujimaru. He calls life a pilgrimage of suffering, though it isn't a story of death and separation. He then declares to Goetia that he will personally pass judgement on him. Goetia mocks him for appearing at the very end as mere Heroic Spirit, claiming only the living Solomon can stop him now. He tries to kill Solomon with Ars Almadel Salomonis, only for Solomon to activate Ars Nova. With its activation, Solomon and his creations will be removed from existence.
Returning to being Romani, Solomon confesses he and Goetia reached opposing conclusion, despite seeing the same things, because he lacked the freedom to get mad. He confirms to Ritsuka that he'll no longer be a Heroic Spirit. He proclaims with the complete annihilation of Solomon, the Age of Gods will truly come to an end. He confesses Ritsuka and Mash taught him to do the right thing, even when it's painful. He realizes that it isn't fair, and apologizes for being inconsiderate right to the end.
He then tells Goetia that his immortality is no more. He reveals Goetia was a spell meant to watch over humanity before Goetia abandoned his duty. Goetia questions the worth of his duty as an omnipotent collective to watch over humans, lamenting that every human's life is a story of hate and despair. Solomon tells him that he fails to understand that nothing is eternal, and pain awaits everyone in the end. However that doesn't make life a story of despair, rather it's a repetition of meeting and parting despite knowing there's an end. Solomon concludes that human life are stories of love and hope.
Goetia calls his words nonsense, and declares he will activate his Noble Phantasm before the last of the Demon Gods is gone. Solomon tells Ritsuka not to worry about him, and to fight until they claim perfect, total victory. He tells them everything they and Mash have done has led to this point. He then disappears smiling at Ritsuka thanking him for everything.[9]
Other appearances[]
Solomon was first mentioned in Garden of Avalon, with Merlin explaining that the decline of Mystery had been accelerating since his death.[4]
Abilities[]
Having reached the top of the Caster Class by meeting high standards in both power and legends, Solomon meets the necessary requirements to be summoned as Grand Caster.[10] As a Grand Servant, Solomon possesses a special Saint Graph of a rank above normal Servants and therefore stands at the pinnacle of all Heroic Spirits.[11][12] However, when summoned as a regular Caster class servant, his power has been greatly decreased when comparing it to how it was when he was alive. This was confirmed by Goetia, who said that the real alive Solomon could have stopped him and regarded his Heroic Spirit counterpart as a pathetic fool that would be no match for him.[13]
Skills[]
Class Skills[]
- Territory Creation (Rank A): Creation of a "Workshop" territory that is advantageous to himself as a magus. That ability of his that had created the Temple of Jerusalem is of the highest peak of Territory Creation.[2]
- High-Speed Incantation (Rank C): The ability to hasten thaumaturgical incantation speed. Despite being fast, his tendency to worry prones to ruin it and sometimes makes him do a mistake.[2]
- Item Construction (Rank C): Creation of tools tinged with magical energy. Perhaps because he is specialized in contracts, his Item Construction ability is on average level.[2]
Personal Skills[]
- Summoning (Rank EX): Magecraft that evokes of spiritual bodies of the past, or perhaps the future. With his Evocation ability that spoke of the summoned spiritual existences, the "Seventy Two Demon Gods", and established them as capable familiars, he truly lived up to his title of King of Magecraft.[2]
- Solomon's Rings (Rank EX): The ten Rings that Solomon attained Omnipotence, given by God. The mark of the king, the progenitor of magecraft. In the case of all ten rings present, any and all kinds of magecraft performed by mankind is invalidated and put under his subordination.[2] They are regarded by Dr. Roman as the greatest catalyst possible a master can prepare to fight in a Holy Grail War.[13] After wishing upon the grail to become a human, Solomon no longer possess all ten rings. The only reason he was in possession of one during the Solomon Singularity is that it was the same one Marisbury Animusphere had used as a Catalyst to summon him to win the First Fuyuki Holy Grail War of the Fate/Grand Order timeline which Dr. Roman kept up to that moment.[13]
- Clairvoyance (Rank EX): Eyesight of good quality. Apprehension of long distance target and elevation of kinetic vision. When the rank is high enough, even x-ray vision or future prediction becomes possible. Solomon's Clairvoyance gives him unobstructed view of both the past and the future.[2] Dr. Roman said that due to the potency of said skill, it can essentially be considered omniscience.[13]
- Revelation (Rank B): A Skill that hears of "the voice from the Heavens" and performs the most suitable of actions. While "Instinct" is a sixth sense for combat purpose, Revelation conforms to all matters in regards to achieving a goal (such as selecting the most suitable road for travel route). Solomon had only ever received one Revelation but based on that he had established the phenomena operation technique—that is, magecraft—that even an ordinary person could perform. (Until then, magecraft had been a work only for those related to the gods.)[2]
Noble Phantasms[]
Solomon has three Noble Phantasms: Ars Nova, Ars Paulina and Ars Almadel Salomonis.
Development[]
Creation and Conception[]
Solomon was designed by Takashi Takeuchi in Fate/Grand Order.[1][3]
In Fate/school life, Eiichirou Mashin held a contest for which he asked his readers to submit designs for the strongest Servant. His Noble Phantasm is The Seal of Solomon.

An individual from 1011~931 BC.
The Third King of Ancient Israel
The great king who made Ancient Israel prosper the most.
Employing 72 demon gods, and also the first individual who build the Temple of Israel.
He performed excellent political measures as a king, but beside that also have many anecdotes as a magus.
Level 1 Bond
Solomon married with the daughter of an Egyptian Pharaoh, but it has been said that, later, God appeared while he was dreaming on his bed and said "you are qualified. Speak your wishes. I'll shall grant it".
Rather than gold or political power, he sought wisdom more than anything. God was satisfied. For that answer itself was proof that he had the qualifications to attain "true wisdom".
When he woke up, Solomon had ten rings inserted on both hands. It was the proof of the wise man recognized by God. Later, it would be called Ring of Solomon, the source of the magecraft that employs angels and demons.
Level 2 Bond
Chaldea’s heroic spirit summoning; its first successful example.
The Grand magus that participated and achieved victory on the Holy Grail War of Fuyuki, secretly summoned by Marisbilly Animusphere.
The wish he entrusted to the Holy Grail was “to become human”.
Through the power of the Holy Grail, he did not “incarnated as a heroic spirit”, but instead was reborn as a new human that had no relation to King Solomon.
Such was Romani Archman.
A quite ordinary young man, who wished to live as an “individual” that did not have anything of peculiar.
...however.
The man who began his second life was unable to know the “happiness, fulfillment as a human” that was never given to him in his previous lifetime.
Because the future of “mankind’s demise”, which he caught a glimpse of right before becoming human, stole any kind of freedom from him.
Level 3 Bond
[CLASS SKILLS]
- Territory Creation: A
Creates an advantageous encampment to oneself as a magus.
Having built the Temple of Israel, he is regarded as a greatest authority in regards to Territory Creation.
- High-Speed Aria: C
A technique to hasten magic aria. Despite being fast, sometimes he makes a mistake due his worrywart nature and ruins everything.
- Item Construction: C
Produces devices that carry magical power. Maybe because he has specialized in contracts, his Item Construction ability is of average level.
Level 4 Bond
Introverted, self-assured and passive.
A laid-back king, without a hint of seriousness.
The gist of his personality is “self-assured”, but this is simply the power to “no read the mood”.
Thus, he is merely making statements on a self-assured manner, and his nature is that of a chicken. Although serious, he is not earnest and is constantly living at 80% power.
He properly ascertained people, properly established laws and properly governed the country. Despite lacking in vigor, he was loved and respected by the masses as a wise, gentle king who was full of love.
...yet, none of those traits came from Solomon’s own will.
Having been ordained as a king from the moment he was born, Solomon had no choice but to hear the voice of God and act accordingly.
His psyche is dispassionate and (having been deprived of the freedom to sympathize with the joys and sorrows of people) inhuman.
Level 5 Bond
After becoming human, Solomon finally acquired the human nature called romance.
At his roots, he is a realist and a pessimist.
Despite uttering wishful thinkings as a mood-maker, he seems somewhat shameless due to inwardly thinking of them as pipe dreams.
While he likes humans, because of his chicken side that “does not want to see something sad”, he maintains a superficial socializing with anyone. In exchange, he can get along with anyone.
An archetypal “everybody’s friend(1)”.
He has a bad habit of, when caught in a dilemma, ending up choosing to either “stick to observing without making any decisions” or “running away” so that “the status quo is preserved”.
Since Roman himself is reflecting on such weakness of his, if someone in his surroundings were to just say a word - “Please, do your best” - he will somehow get a hold of himself and show a decisive judgment fitting of the king of magecraft.
Incidentally, because the first impression that any Servant ends up getting about Roman is “I don’t get the reason, but he is at fault here”, they unconsciously complained at him.
The only ones who did not find fault at him were those who were no Servants, crackpots and Berserkers that do not perceive evil as evil.
Interlude
"The Time of Parting Has Come, He Is the One Who Lets Go of the World"
Rank: D Type: Anti-Unit
Are Nova.
The first Noble Phantasm of King Solomon.
Rather than Goetia, this is a Noble Phantasm possessed by the true King Solomon.
A poem of farewell in which he relinquishes of all the exploits accomplished, all the miracles performed, all the magecrafts established until then.
Upon invoking his Noble Phantasm, Solomon sends all the graces bestowed by God back to heavens and loses the eyes that gaze at the world.
The result is King Solomon’s death.
From another angle, this also means the self-destruction of the 72 demons.
It can also be described as a safety device prepared by Solomon, in order to destroy “magecraft” when it becomes an evil for humans in the distant future.
When this is employed as a Noble Phantasm, all traces of King Solomon are extinguished from this world.
---even from the Throne of Heroes.

Solomon received a revelation only once, but based on said revelation he established a phenomena operation technique--- that is, a magecraft that could be performed even by the hands of a common man (up until then, magecraft was the work of only those who stand in row to god).
Level 3 Bond
King Solomon accomplished only one miracle, but, on the other hand, that exemplifies his prudence.
It is better to be made known to the people that "the king is receiving God's protection" only once. Because any more miracles than that will either frighten or corrupt the people.
