Taira no KagekiyoWP (平景清?), Class Name Avenger (アヴェンジャー, Avenjā?), is an Avenger-class Servant be summoned by Ritsuka Fujimaru in the Grand Orders of Fate/Grand Order.
Profile[]
Identity[]
The character wrapped in mystery who appears in "The Tale of the Heike".
He is a character that was known as "Kazusa's Akushichibyōe Kagekiyo" by the armies of the Genji and Heika clan at the Battle of Yashima, but their personal history is unclear.
He claims to be from Kazusa in "The Tale of the Heike", but her concrete origin varies in the books.
"Kazusa's Akushichibyōe Kagekiyo" eventually came to be called "Taira no Kagekiyo", the avenger of the Taira clan...
They became known to the world as a vengeful ghost bent on taking revenge on the Minamoto clan.
The military exploits established by the samurai on the Heike's side and the deep-seated grudges the deserters felt towards the Genji are condensed into the image of "Taira no Kagekiyo" for some reason.
Yoritomo was actually attacked by Kagekiyo thirty-seven times, but they failed each time.
Anybody who desires vengeance against the Minamoto-clan will eventually turn into Kagekiyo and bare their fangs against the Genji.
Indeed, it doesn't matter whether they are Kagekiyo. Indeed it doesn't matter whether they are of the Heike. It has nothing to with whether it is the actual person. Those who bear a grudge against the Genji are taken over by "Taira no Kagekiyo".
The real Kagekiyo might have actually escaped to the Chūgoku region and spent the rest of his life in happiness there, but regardless of that, "Taira no Kagekiyo" bears a grudge against the Genji.
Materialization[]
There are a great number of legends about Kagekiyo and historic sites related to him (or so they claim) exist all over the country. In the exact same way as the (so-called) historic sites related to Yoshitsune of the Minamoto-clan.
In their materialization this time, Kagekiyo has truly become one with Minamoto Yoshitsune.
In other words...
"This warrior called Minamoto Yoshitsune is, in truth, Kagekiyo."
Was Yoshitsune taken in as a component of Kagekiyo as a result of "having a grudge against the Genji" or has Yoshitsune's enormous resentment become the core of Kagekiyo as an Avenger─────
Yoshitsune was Taira no Kiyomori's adopted son for a while. One could say the path towards becoming one with the vengeful ghost of the Heike was already paved for Yoshitsune who bore a grudge against the Genji during her life.
Lostbelt[]
During the Heian-kyō Lostbelt, Ashiya Douman put their spirit to possess their mortal enemy, Minamoto no Yoshitsune. The possession was a success due to Ushiwakamaru harboring her own hatred towards Kagekiyo's enemy Yoritomo (due to him betraying her later on), thus their combined hatred towards Yoritomo formed into a powerful Avenger Servant.
Appearance[]
Taira no Kagekiyo has been summoned into the body of Minamoto no Yoshitsune, taking the form of a young samurai woman, though Kagekiyo wears purple lipstick and eye-liner.
Personality[]
The one who kills the Genji. A device for exterminating the Genji. That mindset that should be called that of a vengeful ghost, is already like that of an automatically acting machine.
No pretense of possessing the joys or sorrows of an individual can be felt. She displays none. Has she already thrown them away or are they simply "difficult to feel"───
Relationships[]
- Minamoto-no-Raikou
- "The Genji must die."[2]

Role[]
Fate/Grand Order[]
Heian-kyō: Naraka Mandala[]
- Main article: Saikyou Taira-no-Kagekiyo
Taira is summoned by Ashiya Douman.[3][4]
Little Big Tengu[]
Ordeal Call II: Id[]
Abilities[]
According to Kagekiyo, they are not a singular person. There were at the very least thirty-seven Kagekiyo, all who went after Minamoto-no-Yoritomo with one appearing after the previous one was killed. As such, the legend of Kagekiyo that represented the Concept of "Killing Genji" was inscribed in the Throne of Heroes.[4] As a Heroic Spirit, Taira-no-Kagekiyo is like a living weapon that operates solely to annihilate the Genji.[3] As the personified concept of grudge born against the Genji, Kagekiyo found the perfect vessel in Minamoto-no-Yoshitsune, another with cause to hate the Genji.[4]
According to Mash Kyrielight, there are great many legends about them, but the most outlandish is the one about their Immortality. It is unknown was sort of Magecraft mechanism they employed, but it is said that not even cutting off Taira-no-Kagekiyo's head was enough to stop them from coming back to life.[5]
Combat[]
Much like Ushiwakamaru, Kagekiyo will attack by spinning around with her swords in hand for several of her animations. At her Third Ascension, she does this exclusively, drawing both her swords at the same time for her attacks.[6]
Little Big Tengu[]
During the events of the Little Big Tengu event, Taira was able to take over Ushiwakamaru's Saint Graph. However, she refused to aid Kagekiyo completely. Due to this, they were unable to fuse properly. Kagekiyo planned to fix this by breaking Ushiwakamaru's spirit. Once she killed Ritsuka Fujimaru, Ushiwakamaru's Soul would lose its anchor to the World, allowing Kagekiyo to get full control. Kagekiyo had no doubt that once she fixed that she would be able to slaughter every Genji across every period of time.[5]
Taira gains access to the Mallet of Fortune, a Japanese wish granter. With it, she created a Singularity in Kamakura. Once she learned how to use its full power, she was able to access Kamakura's Leyline and grant her attacks greater potency. The Mallet also allows Kagekiyo to command crow Tengu capable of keeping Kiichi Hougen and Summer Medb at bay. Kiichi was able to reclaim the Mallet and take it away from Kagekiyo by revealing her actual Tengu name.[5]

Saikyou Taira-no-Kagekiyo[]
Saikyou Taira no Kagekiyo is an Avenger-class Servant summoned by Ouban Ashiya Douman during the Heian-kyō Singularity and embed with the karma of the general god Hasshoujin Saikyou.
Abilities[]
The moment Genji warriors draw near Kagekiyo, they drop their swords and fall to their knees, almost as if they offered their heads voluntarily. Katou Danzou speculates that this is an ability Kagekiyo possesses by virtue of being a Heroic Spirit. Due to this, she can be considered true killer of Genji in every possible sense. They are their natural enemy, almost as if they were poison that only affects the Genji. Even Minamoto-no-Yoshitsune has never demonstrated anything like Kagekiyo's talent for killing Genji.[3] Alive Shuten-douji is able to netutralize Kagekiyo's Genji poison in the air by sending out wave after wave of her Demonic Wine.[4]
- Combat
Saikyou Taira-no-Kagekiyo rides the Tsuchigumo Hasshoujin Saiha Kugamimi-no-Mikasa.[3] It was killed by alive Shuten-douji's Demonic Wine tsunami.[4]
Saikyou Taira-no-Kagekiyo's strength and speed are high enough to make alive Sakata Kintoki go dizzy while fighting her. After Taira undergoes a Saint Graph Ascension, her power is increased to the point not even Kintoki and Shuten-douji working together can overpower her. In fact, Kintoki receives multiple cuts and is poisoned from head to toe. Once Taira summons the Deathmatch Stage, Kintoki and her engage in a furious battle to the death, neither giving an inch. Having gone back to his old self, Kintoki eventually overpowers Taira. When Taira tries to turn the ties in her favor by releasing her Noble Phantasm as a last resort, Kintoki, now powered by one of Ritsuka Fujimaru's Command Spells, finishes her off with his Golden lightning.[4]
