Tamamo Aria (タマモアリア, Tamamo Aria?), Class Name Alter Ego (アルターエゴ, Arutā Ego?), is an Alter Ego-class Servant manifested during the Moon Holy Grail War of Fate/Extra CCC. She is summoned as the Stray Rider (逸れのライダー?) in the Waxing Moon Ritual of Fate/Samurai Remnant. She allies with Master Miyamoto Iori.
Profile[]
Identity[]
Tamamo Aria is one of the Tamamo Nine. She is an Alter Ego formed from one of Tamamo's eight discarded tails, having retained divine status and manifested as an independent Heroic Spirit.[3]
Appearance[]
Tamamo Aria appears younger than the other Tamamo Nine.
Personality[]
Each of the Tamamo Nine speak in a slightly different cadence in Fate/EXTRA CCC, but none are attributed to any specific name.[4]
The original Tamamo-no-Mae refers to Tamamo Aria as "mysterious."[5] She captivates men with her dainty appearance and somewhat frivolous speech and behavior. Instead of riding on something, riding on someone seems to be her preferred form of transportation.[6]
A fox of malevolent nature, despite her casual demeanor, she reflects the disposition of those she encounters. If one harbors mistrust, she becomes suspicious. If perceived as innocent, she presents herself as pure. She does not seek conflict, yet human behavior around her often leads to chaos. Her classification as a Rider stems from her exceptional skill in manipulating humans. She commands them effortlessly, utilizing their efforts to attain a dominant position.[2]
Her summoning in Fate/Samurai Remnant has made her attracted to Miyamoto Iori. Due to his personality, Aria's tendency to mirror others does not result in any significant incidents so far.[2]
Role[]
Fate/EXTRA CCC[]
After Hakuno Kishinami and Caster resolve the CCC Incident on the Far Side, they are returned to the Near Side to complete the Moon Holy Grail War. Though Hakuno is meant to be deleted upon making use of the Holy Grail, Caster makes use of her Nine Tails form after 1000 years of training to subdue the Moon Cell to rescue Hakuno. Discarding eight tails in Imaginary Number Space afterward, they manifest as independent Alter Egos. Taking over the Moon Cell as retribution towards Hakuno and Caster, they decide to antagonize the pair.[4]
Fate/Samurai Remnant[]
Tamamo Aria is a Masterless Stray Servant participating in the Waxing Moon Ritual. Miyamoto Iori can recruit her to join his team.
Keian Command Championship[]
Aria joins Kaya and Crimson Codex and supports Iori and hopes for his victory.
Abilities[]
Tamamo Aria's mount is a large white fox. Aria does not have any combat abilities, instead focusing on supporting her allies. Tamamo Aria possesses a sword, but its long length makes it difficult for her to reach the hilt in order to draw it.[7]
Skills[]
Class Skills[]
- Riding (C Rank): Rather than riding a beast, this ability turns a person into the princess's royal mount. As she is the one who stands at the top manipulating many humans, her ability to command humans and use them as stepping stones is something she does without trying, which doesn't help with the allegations that she is another of the Ruinous Consort.[2]
Personal Skills[]
- Cursed Layer: Bright Sunshine (呪層・麗日照, Jusō - Reinisshō?, localised as "Malediction, Bright Sunshine"): Tamamo Aria uses this skill in battle to support and buff her allies. It also charms any nearby enemies, causing them to be unable to move.
Noble Phantasm[]
Tamamo Aria's profile in Fate/Samurai Remnant does not list a Noble Phantasm for her, marking the section only with "—".[1] This is different from characters with hidden Noble Phantasms, which are marked with "???" instead.
Development[]
Tamamo Aria first appeared in Fate/EXTRA CCC with an unnamed, unattributed design in 2013.[4] The Tamamo Nine were given clearer designs in Fate/EXTRA material. She was first named in Fate/Grand Order in 2016.[5] She first debuted with a new design by Arco Wada,[8] and illustrated by Rei Wataru in Fate/Samurai Remnant in 2023. Her scenario writer is Yuuichirou Higashide.[2]
Aria's profile in Fate/Samurai Remnant material lists her height as 159cm, only one centimeter shorter than Tamamo-no-Mae. Her in-game profile in Samurai Remnant says she's 138cm instead.
