Profile[]
Background[]
Tenshitsu was the chief priest of a temple. Nagao Kagetora, later known as Uesugi Kenshin, was sent to the temple by her father due to her violent nature. After fighting with the other disciples and giving them excessive injuries, Tenshitsu scolded her. Though he preached life lessons to her, it is unknown if she understood them due to her inability to understand human emotions properly.[1]
During a discussion in which the other disciples were ecstatic about being able to eat sweet manjuWP, Tenshitsu noticed Kagetora had no particular reaction. She explained she understood the concept of "sweet" but did not understand the concept of "delicious." Learning that Kagetora could understand the basis of taste but not the basis of happiness, he tried to introduce her to the pleasures of alcohol even should it be against teachings. Despite that, she was unfazed by it, so, after imparting one last lesson, decided to stop preaching to her.[1]
