TheseusWP (テセウス, Teseusu?), Class Name Saber (セイバー, Seibā?), is a Saber-class Servant summoned in the Grand Orders of Fate/Grand Order. He is later summoned by Ritsuka Fujimaru.
Profile[]
Background[]
Theseus is the heroic young king of Athens who is famous for slaying the Minotauros, Asterios, by sneaking into the labyrinth of Crete with the help of Ariadne. He did not believe Asterios was a monster but because Asterios's deeds were wicked, he had to be brought down.[2]
Theseus had also kidnapped and wed the younger sister of Penthesilea, later producing Hippolytus with her.[3][4]
Theseus was a relative of Heracles, and when he saw the skin of the Nemean lion that Heracles brought into his house when he was young, he did not only not run away like the other children, but he also took out a weapon; something that it's said to had shown he had the qualities of a hero.
Theseus was the son of King Aegeus of Athens, but he was born on a journey and was raised without knowing him. Theseus obtained the sword and sandals left by King Aegeus by lifting a large rock placed on top of them, and decides to take a steep and difficult overland route to meet his father. The sea route was easy, but there were various evil people lurking along the land route, and Theseus believed it was his duty as a hero to exterminate them. After defeating many villains and monsters, including the thieves Periphetes, Scyron, and Crommyonian Sow, Theseus returned to Athens in triumph, proving himself as the king's son and qualifying as his successor.
Appearance[]
During the voyage of the Argo, Theseus is described as a young man in impressive clothing. He has Ionian looks, a tropical accent, and wears an expensive Greek robe (a himation), with a royal pattern upon it.[5]
Personality[]
Theseus has been described as a kind, friendly man with a strong sense of duty. According to Asterios' profile, he fearfully entered the Labyrinth expecting to fight a devourer of men, finding instead "a human boy desperately trying to be punished as a monster" and, after his victory over Asterios, with him on the verge of death, both talked about the blessings and curses they received reciprocally. In the end, Asterios passed away in friendly terms with Theseus, the latter never seeing the former as a monster not even once.
He claims to still love Ariadne, even after - presumably - abandoning her. He says that that as a man, he could accept and respect her choice to not bear him an heir; but as a king, he had to solve the problem by welcoming Penthesilea's younger sister as his new queen.[5]
Relationships[]
- Asterios
- "Asterios! N-no, I'm just a normal guy. A passerby. I have nothing to do with a true hero like you... Not fooling you? Drat. I should have hidden my face."[1]
- Euryale
- "Hey, Master. That's the Greek goddess Euryale, right? Why is she always glaring at me? Huh? She's a Servant close to Asterios? I see. That's great news. Yeah, truly. He really needed at least one person who understood him."[1]
- Medea/Medea Lily
- "If I had any relation to the witch of Colchis? Hmm, some legends say I do, but didn't Medea tell you that she doesn't remember much of it? Then that's either someone else with the same name or these events didn't matter to either of us."[1]
- Argonauts Servants
- "Long time no see, guys. Nice to see you're still doing fine. The Argonauts. How nostalgic. Is Jason still annoying as always? Great. I'm glad things seem to have stayed the same."[1]
Role[]
Fate/Grand Order[]
Heroic Spirit Lore ~Asterios~[]
He appears in the short story detailing the death of Asterios at his hands.
The Curse of the Argo[]
In Circe's interlude in Fate/Grand Order, Theseus appears as a member of the Argonauts, attempting to convince Circe to help the crew. He appears only in dialogue; speaking, but neither engaging in battles nor having any art. Circe is angry at his arrival, feeling he wronged her niece Ariadne and nephew Asterios, prompting Theseus to back off and allow Jason and Atalante to finish the conversation.[5]
Castle of White Sky, Castle of Black Night[]
Abilities[]
Jason states that Theseus is the only member of the Argonauts that can match Heracles' might. Even if he's not, Theseus' presence was powerful enough to make Fujimaru doubt if he was a human or demigod.[5]
He's a Saber but he doesn't care what his weapon is. He's the kind to use anything available.
Skills[]
Class Skills[]
- Riding (B Rank):
- Magic Resistance (A Rank):
Personal Skills[]
- Ariadne's Prayer (C Rank): Ariadne's prayers to help Theseus reach the right path and the right place. Combined with instinct, Theseus' actions are free from hesitation. Furthermore, by combining it with Ariadne Aporito Hades, He can achieve even stronger effects.
- Instinct (Labyrinth) (B++ Rank): Normally, Theseus' instinct remains at B rank, but when he dives into the labyrinth, its sharpness increases. Even if visibility is obscured by darkness, combat operations can be carried out in the same way as normal.
- Martial Retribution (B Rank): Sublimation of an episode in which Theseus stole the weapon of his opponent and used that weapon to fight back. Lowers Theseus opponent's attack power and increases his own attack power at the same time. If it is B rank, it is possible to steal the hero's weapon depend on decision. However, it is impossible to steal holy swords, magic swords, magic spears, or divine weapons.
Noble Phantasms[]
Theseus' first Noble Phantasm is Ariadne Apórrito Ádis. Ariadne's thread, which allowed Theseus to reach and escape from the monster known as the Minotaur (Asterios).
Theseus' second Noble Phantasm is Dyskolia Speira. Theseus' "Six Labours" has been sublimated as a Noble Phantasm. Although the scale is different, it is similar to Heracles' "Twelve Labours". The Noble Phantasm is a counter type that reflects the opponent's attacks. (Basically not used in Fate/Grand Order)
Development[]
Creation and Conception[]
Theseus was the original Rider-class Servant of Old Fate.[6] He was replaced by Perseus for the reimagining, Fate/Prototype.
Theseus was designed by Shima Drill in Fate/Grand Order.

Character material p.12 - Discrepancies between the Old Fate and Fate/stay night Discrepancies between the Old Fate and Fate/stay night
Seven characters maintained the same character model they had in the Old Fate: Lancer, Assassin, Caster, Berserker, Archer (Gilgamesh), the sham priest, and the death punch teacher.
Lancer's Master was Ayaka's rival and a high-class lady like that one Miss Luvia.
Rider (Theseus)'s Master was a girl who, after suffering in the hospital from an incurable disease, passed away before the story started.
Berserker's Master was the classic irredeemable clergyman archetype who raped people immediately after defeating them.
Gilgamesh's debut scene would already expose to everyone that he's Gilgamesh, and the handsome Assassin, as stuck in the mountain gate then as he is now, would still introduce himself as "the Assassin Servant, Sasaki Kojirou".
Less relevantly, the sham priest and the death punch teacher knew each other because they were raised in the same orphanage. Laughs.旧FateとFateの相違点
