Typhon Ephemeros (テュフォンWP・エフェメロス, Tyufon Efemerosu?), Class Name Pretender (プリテンダー, Puritendā?), is a Pretender-class Servant summoned by Ritsuka Fujimaru during the Grand Orders of Fate/Grand Order.
Prior to her True Name Fusion as a Pretender, she possesses the True Name Typhon (テュフォン, Tyufon?).
Profile[]
Background[]

Typhon eating the ephemeral fruit.
In the Greek Age of Gods, the Progenitor Dragon Typhon was tricked by the MoiraiWP into eating an ephemeral fruit. He had thought it to be a fruit which could grant any wish, but it was actually a fruit which would make sure his wishes never came true. After eating the fruit Typhon lost much of his power and would ultimately be defeated by Zeus.[6]
The (false) Cerebral Corpus of a pure-blooded dragon, one that delivers judgement upon the gods. While the dragon Albion soared through Earth’s natural phenomena for its entire existence, Typhon, despite its origins as a spaceship from another star system, endured as those phenomena themselves.[1]
This Servant's true identity is the ephemeral fruit as a Pretender, wearing the role of Typhon. Greek mythology has several examples of gods that were originally plants. She reacts instinctively to wishes, an anti-wish granter who will make sure someone's wish never comes true.[6] A fusion of Typhon, the Progenitor Dragon who once forced Zeus to his knees, and the Ephemeral Fruit it consumed—one that negates wishes. Her manifestation as a Pretender, and thus a false brain, stems from the Ephemeral Fruit being the main body. This nature defines Typhon Ephemeros as an Anti-Holy Grail, or more aptly, an Anti-Wish Granter.[1]
Appearance[]
She is a young girl with long red hair. She appears to be around twelve years old; when the eight-year-old Akira Yakou transformed into Typhon Ephemeros, her body aged.[4] Her right eye is yellow, while the left is pure black. When she first manifests, her armor is half-formed, with her top covered by rivulets of Chaos Tide. When she reveals her True Name, she grows enormous, black-feathered wings and her armor fully forms into a black dress and bonnet, and her nails grow into long magenta claws. Her armor, once fully formed, is noted to be similar to Bai Ruolong's Blaze of Etna.[7]
Personality[]
Unlike Typhon who is a pure concept, Typhon Ephemeros acts with malice and hatred.[6] She has a strong dislike for the Greek Chaos, and doesn't like that the Chaos Tide bears his name.[8]

- Gray
- "The Blackmore Gravekeeper. The Holy Lance, a burden too great for mortal hands, is it not? Still, your unwavering resolve is... quite remarkable."'[3]
- Sima Yi
- "The El-Melloi Princess. I confess, I feel a kinship with that one. Indeed, I suspect she harbors a delightful inclination toward sadism."[3]
- Ptolemy
- "King of the Library, tell me: Did your wish's fulfillment prove a boon, or a bane? “It cannot be judged merely as good or ill”? Hmph, ever the same response from you. Yet, to maintain such a stance even as a Servant... perhaps it wasn’t an ill fate after all."[3]
- Sugitani Zenjuubou
- "Hngh! Hey, give me your back! Why? Just do it! I can't stand that look snipers get in their eyes—it sends shivers straight down my spine!"[3]
- Paris
- "Oh, Apollo! To think you, who trembled and fled from the Progenitor Dragon's presence, are here now! Should you ever meet the Goddesses of Fate, tell them I'll show them no mercy. Absolutely none."[3]
- Iskandar
- "Ah, the Conqueror King. I see. Yes, such a king would undoubtedly be a crystallization of wishes. But it is precisely for that reason... Is it a sin? Is it a transgression? Is it an evil? Do not forget that upon his back lies a karma from which humanity can never flee."[3]
- Irisviel (Dress of Heaven)
- "The Holy Grail?! Yes, of course. With an Anti-Wish Granter like myself already here, it's hardly odd for a Servant who is the Holy Grail to surface, is it? Still... that's not for me to comment on."[3]

Fem's Casa[]
Within the World of Fate/stay night, Akira Yakou consumes flesh from Bai Ruolong, who had himself consumed some of the flesh of Typhon, taking on the concept of ephemeral fruit. She is granted the name Typhon Ephemeros by Ruolong.[2]
Grand Roll[]

Typhon-Ephemoros fighting Yakshakurama's clones.
Akira and Bai Ruolong travel to the Himalayas, with Akira now able to change into Typhon-Ephemoros and back at will by willingly allowing Ephemoros to possess her body.[9]
Abilities[]
Typhon Ephemeros can birth monsters with the Chaos Tide, just like Tiamat.[8] As Typhon possesses the factors of a multitude of monsters, she is capable of spawning monsters such as the Sphinx, LadonWP, Cerberus, and the dragon of the Golden Fleece.[1] Her vision is better than Zagreus', a living Divine Spirit.[4]
Skills[]
Class Skills[]
- Draconic Furnace Ignition - Progenitor Dragon (A Rank): This ability ignites the Dragon Core within her, a power she gained by assimilating with Typhon, the Progenitor Dragon. In essence, she can generate an immense amount of magical energy simply by breathing.[1]
- Draconic Path - Typhon (A Rank): Ephemeros deploys Typhon's magical circuits throughout her body, ensuring Dragon Kind output.[1]
- Ephemeral Fruit (A Rank): The main body of Ephemeros, the anti-wish granter fed to Typhon by the MoiraiWP. In her presence, all wishes are inverted, manifesting as their antithesis. While this effect relegates Typhon's luck to E Rank, her identity as the Ephemeral Fruit causes her luck to be reflected as B Rank.[1]
Personal Skills[]
- Blaze of Etna (C Rank): Noble Phantasm of the same name, expressed here as a Skill.
- Black Wings (A Rank):
- How Sinful, How Condemnable, How Evil (EX Rank):
Noble Phantasm[]
Typhon Ephemeros' Noble Phantasms are Typhon, Nega-Keraunos, and Blaze of Etna.

Development[]
Akira Yakou was first introduced in The Adventures of Lord El-Melloi II Volume 2, released in August 2021. Typhon Ephemeros was first introduced in the Fate/Grand Order event "Castle of White Sky, Castle of Black Knight" in October 2023, and at the time there was no indication that the two characters were connected. Typhon Ephemeros was revealed to be Akira in August 2024 with volume 8 of Adventures.
Creation and Conception[]
To Makoto Sanda, Ephemeros's status as a guest character in the Adventures novels is debatable because he counts both it and her appearance in the Fate/Grand Order event "Grail Front - Castle of Day and Castle of Night" he penned to equally counts as her main appearance. He advises to consider them two separate characters who just happen to share the same background lore, that being the legend of the Ephemeral Fruit, the same way that Shirou Emiya and EMIYA have the same past but aren't exactly the same character.[10]
Typhon Ephemeros was illustrated by hotosoka in Fate/Grand Order.
