Inversion Impulse (反転衝動, Hanten Shōdō) is a state of being where one's mind is overpowered by other factors of their body. With the case of Mixed-Blood humans with Oni blood, it is that their non-human blood, their instincts, overpower their human blood, their reason. Those with thick oni blood are often overwhelmed by their blood with Inversion Impulses, and those that maximize the blood are called Crimson Red Vermillion (紅赤朱, Kurenai Seki Shu). Also known as Ancestral Return (先祖還り, Senzo Kaeri), they are enveloped by an illusion-like fog and their demon blood overwhelms and consumes their human blood. Those that become Crimson Red Vermillion are never able to return to being human again.

| B | Two steps away from the end. One's friends will worry about the former's state of mind and distance themselves. A Mixed-Blood's powers become more stable, asserting themselves as a fundamental aspect of their identity. |
| C | During this stage, behavioral changes become far more noticeable. Related powers become much harder to hide. |
| D | The first threshold. At this stage, Mixed-Bloods show small behavioral changes. In the case of Oni-Kind, anger issues flare up, temporarily increasing one's power. |
| E | Those at this stage are relatively new to power. Most Mixed-Bloods are born at this level, and if they experience no other triggers, they can live their lives as (mostly) normal humans. |
