Uther Pendragon^WP (ウーサー・ペンドラゴン, Ūsā Pendoragon^?) is the father of Artoria Pendragon and Morgan le Fay.

Identity

Near the end of the fifth century, after the Roman Empire's collapse, Britain was inhabited by many tribes led by kings. Uther was the brother of Vortigern and the strongest king in Britain. It is thought that Morgan was his adopted daughter, but she was actually his true blood daughter with Igraine. There was no love between Igraine and Uther, it was simply that Igraine was the ideal woman to give birth to Artoria. Her blood would bind together Uther's blood and the dragon's essence.

The king chosen to be the King of Britain was bestowed with a mysterious power, a black primeval cursed energy native to Britain, but its power had waned and Uther was said to be the last of its keepers, which is why he came up with his plan to sire Artoria, a manmade child of a human and a dragon. Merlin once foretold how the white dragon^WP representing the Saxons^WP and the red dragon^WP representing Britain would battle each other, and then afterward Britain would be united by a great king who would defeat the Gauls and Romans. As the incarnation of the red dragon, Artoria was created to oppose the incarnation of the white dragon, Vortigern.

Alongside Merlin, Uther brought about the circumstances for his heir's birth. Using magecraft called Conceptual Fertilization, Igraine was impregnated with the concept of the red dragon that protects Britain. This caused Artoria to be born with a dragon Magic Core inside of her. However Artoria was born a girl, not a boy, despite Uther's desires. Even if the child was fated to become a king, he could not make a child that was not a boy his successor. When Artoria was five years old she was given into Merlin's care, who did not care about her gender, and Merlin entrusted her to Sir Ector to raise until the time was right.

Although unexpected, Morgan was born with supernatural blood that was thought to have died with King Uther. She also inherited from King Uther the primeval curse that lurks in the British Isles in the form of blackened magical energy of the same kind as Excalibur Morgan's. Morgan inheriting this power made her the "owner" of the British Isles and a greater “King of the Island” than King Arthur, and marked her as Uther's proper daughter, but Uther still chose Artoria as his successor.

Vortigern, opposing the oncoming Age of Man and wanting Britain to remain a realm dominated by Mystery, sought to conquer Britain for himself. Uther and Vortigern battled in Londinium, and Uther was slain by his brother. After Uther's death Britain fell into the Dark Ages and the populace knew only despair, but Merlin prophesized that Uther's heir would pull the Sword of Selection from the stone and defeat Vortigern to become the rightful King of Britain.
