Velber 02 (ヴェルバー02, Verubā 02?), True Name SefarWP (セファール, Sefāru?, also romanized as "Sephyr"), is the second of three Void Cells deployed by the Velber in 12,000 BC. She is the original form of Altera in Fate/EXTELLA.

Identity[]

Also known as the White Titan of Tassili n' Ajjer, is in history the Great God of Sefar.

She is Velber 02, also known as the White Titan (白い巨人, Shiroi Kyojin?), or the Ark of the Stars, one of the ships that surround the main Velber "Harvester Star." The ship entered the solar system with her "older brother" and "younger sister" fourteen thousand years ago, Velber 01 and Velber 03, and she eventually landed on the Moon. She invaded the Moon Cell and Earth simultaneously, becoming known as Sefar.

She invaded SERAPH as an Anti Cell, and also sent her own data to Earth to create a material body (avatar), invading both at the same time. She did huge damage to the Moon Cell but was ultimately beaten; however the Moon Cell had no way to wipe her out and thus she was sealed away. The Altera (Moon) stayed in the Star of Tears which became the separated territory known as the "Zero Dark".

On Earth, Sefar destroyed most of mankind's earliest civilizations, including Atlantis in an event that would be remembered as the Leukosmachia. Because the Twelve Machine Gods of Atlantis abided by their territory, they were unable to defeat Sefar by themselves whilst they would have as a group. Sefar in particular claimed Ares' personal sword as a trophy, after which the remnants of the gods survived minus their true bodies. Before Sefar could destroy the world, she was killed by the wielder of the holy sword on Earth.

Her corpse became the basis for several beings such as the Gigas who fought in the Gigantomachia and the Valkyries (such as Brynhildr) who became Odin's daughters. Karl der Große encountering the mummified remains of Sefar in the Alps gave him his desire to unify the world, and Astolfo describes how after coming in contact with Sefar Karl became like a different person. The core essence of Sefar's body then became the Altera of Earth who would be eventually found by the Huns. On the Moon however, 14000 years past and Altera of the Moon wakes up as the Velber approach the galaxy again.[2] (While in the first part of Extella it is said that Altera stirred of her volition… but in truth, it was Archimedes who roused her.)[3]

In this form, Sefar loses reasons but desires to destroys everything in her path. After she was defeated, Sefar regains her sanity for a last moment to her Master (the Body of the protagonist) and apologizing and thanking the protagonist for being with her until the end before she crumbles into rubble.

Fate/EXTELLA[]

She was awakened as the destroyer and controlled by Archimedes (in Flame Poem arc and Dawn arc) or Corroded Elizabeth (in Orchid Words arc). She is the final boss in Main Story, excluding Golden Poem arc, as well as the second boss in Archimedes' Side Story.[4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14]

Within the History of the Atlantic Lostbelt, Zeus forcibly assimilated the authorities of his fellow Machine Gods in order to fight Sefar. He fought her to a state close to a draw and repelled her in event known as the Leukosmachia.[15] Afterwards, Sefar's remnants, known as Gigas, were defeated in the Gigantomachia.[16]

In the history of the British Lostbelt, the fairies never forged Excalibur simply because they were too lazy to do so. With no way for Earth to fight back against Sefar she was able to succeed in her goal of destroying the planet, leaving nothing but ocean behind.[17]

Abilities[]

Sefar is an enemy beyond humanity, beyond this solar system, beyond this universe.[5] A being from the outside of space itself sent by the Umbral Star to act as its Vanguard.[5][13] She is a standard type of Anti Cell built to physically destroy civilizations with raw power alone.[3] Furthermore, she absorbs Magical Energy from the civilizations she destroys and uses it to grow bigger, only to destroy itself once the task is done.[2][18] Archimedes states that Sefar not only endangers the continuation of SE.RA.PH, but “all of existence as humans comprehend it.” Humanity itself. Earth, the Moon, everywhere humanity lives and breathes, its lives, its dreams, its cultures. Although the Moon Cell treats most human conflicts impassively, Sefar is the only being whom the Moon Cell considers a threat to itself.[5] The last time Earth encountered Velber, 80% of the planet’s surface was burned to ash.[6] Out of all the beings that lived on Earth during 12,000 BC, no one could have beaten the White Titan.[12] Sefar killed more than the plants, animals, or humanity.[12] Sefar killed beings older and greater than Gilgamesh himself,[11] the very personifications of nature and other world concepts. Not even those who were worshiped as gods stood a chance against her, and were simply crushed one by one right alongside their followers.[9][12]

Sefar is an Anti-Foreign Civilization, Anti-World Weapon.[13][15] Because she has a bonus modifier against the World, gods who embody the aspects of nature are at a disadvantage against her. Most god's Divinity comes from Earth, but the Sun belongs to the universe. In terms of raw force, Tamamo-no-Mae states that Amaterasu could be on par with Velber.[8] However, Tamamo later on stated twice that she had been among the gods that were vanquished by Sefar.[9][14] When Sefar was finally released in the Moon Cell, she stated that there is no way to stop Sefar, and that she had known she wouldn't be able to save Hakuno Kishinami all along. As the embodiment of the Sun, Tamamo knows everything that happened 14,000 years ago. Thus, she admitted having lost to the White Titan before, and that she knew in her very bones that they would be no match for the Umbral Star. The Heavens, the Earth, the Sea, the Sun, Fire, and the Forest. All of their wisdom came to nothing. The titan rejected all reason, all love. It even rejected Death itself.[9] Only in the Atlantic Lostbelt, where Zeus forced the other Twelve Machine Gods to fuse with him, were they powerful enough to fight Sefar in what was approximately a draw and repel it. In Proper Human History, where the gods acted prideful and underestimated Sefar, none of them were able to prevail and thus, Atlantis was destroyed too.[15] Not even the very embodiment of War, with its great sword,[9] who was said to be the greatest enemy she had ever fought,[13] was able to touch Sefar.[9]

In 12,000 BC, Sefar was not defeated by a god, but rather, a mere human. As she struck down Ares, IT appeared. A single sword, forged and refined in the depths of the Earth. The Ultimate Phantasm, created by the stars and humanity's deepest wishes. The embodiment of world-saving hope. Although similar to the own sword Sefar was holding, this one was smaller, small enough to be carried by a human. Despite Sefar’s body being tougher than any stone on Earth, strong enough to resist the heat of stars, her body was split in two by the Holy Sword. Its light was so big and bright, that it nearly swallowed the titan whole.[12] In the British Lostbelt where the six Great fairies failed to forge the Holy Sword, All of Earth's civilizations and landmasses were wiped out by Sefar, leaving just an endless ocean behind.[17]

Sefar's base form is that of Titan Altera, the one trapped in The Zero Dark. Even in this form, her skin is so durable that even all the power of an A-rank Noble Phantasm is unable to blemish it, let alone make her twitch.[10] In this form, she is also stronger than Hero Altera, and it is noted that she could easily defeat two Top Servants summoned by the Moon Cell on her own. Gilgamesh states that if Altera were to transform into the White Titan, she would stand a fair chance against him, and that it would be worth using Ea against.[11] When Altera finally transforms into the White Titan by the end of each route, she only gets to manifest her 3rd stage. Elizabeth Void states that this is just her hatchling state, and that the more she destroys, the bigger she will get.[8] Even then, her scream alone can tear everything apart, seemingly shaking SE.RA.PH itself.[6][7][8] Hakuno Kishinami states that it is so primal, so tremendous, that it resounds across the infinite void of space. Archimedes states that her power in this form is far beyond that of any Servant.[6] In fact, Hakuno states that she could shred entire territories at will, and that compared to her scream, Altera’s army, which was comprised of Gilgamesh, Iskandar, Jeanne d'Arc, and Altera herself, is nothing.[7] Being the Moon Cell's ultimate doomsday device, Artoria Pendragon was summoned by it to cut down and kill Altera with Excalibur should she become too much to handle.[19]

Skills[]

  • Crest of the Wandering Star (??? Rank): An exclusive skill of hers. It is the ability to turn into a giant god in order to destroy civilization, her fundamental design. With this passive skill, the lives, structures, and concepts she destroys are absorbed as Spiritron information and she increases in size.[20] In the Early Dawn Territory/Zone, she is 16 meters in size, but that's only because her default height is set to be "10x the size of the people native to that civilization". In this environment, she consumes Spiritrons to accelerate the rate of her growth.[18] There was a limit to how large the Alter Ego of the Titan Altera could grow on Earth in relation to its gravity, but there exists no such limit in cyberspace. That being said, her movements slow down if she becomes too massive, and since it takes time for her thoughts to be communicated to her peripheries, it’s thought that she manually optimizes her size to facilitate easier movement.[3] Altera cannot by her own will remove this skill. By absorbing an amount of Magical Energy equal to her current HP amount, her maximum HP doubles. Further, due to her modifier as the Titan, whenever her structure reaches a size double to the previous (16M, 32M, 64M, 128M, 256M, 512M, 1024M) she will advance to the next stage, and all of her parameters are increased by 1 digit. For example, if STR A is equal to a value of 150, and a + doubles that to 300, then with the Titan modifier, what is 300 at first stage, becomes 3,000 at second stage; 30,000 at third stage; and so on, becoming 300,000,000 at her seventh stage. This approaches Gold-Fur White-Face in her nine-tailed form (387,420,489) - an amount of energy on the level of a sun.[20]

  • Magical Energy Absorption (??? Rank): Another exclusive skill of Attilaight Cell. The body of the Titan, composed of Spiritron collectors, will unconditionally absorb "Magical Energy processed into techniques" and covert it into HP and Armor values. Techniques equate to skills, knowledge, and civilization. To an Anti Cell, there is no better form of nourishment. Any form of attack (interference) designed by intellect - however undeveloped the theory behind it may be - will only grant more power to Altera. The large firepower of greater magecraft and strategic weapons of science and technology will fuel the fire further. On the other hand, while pure magical energy - what can be called life-force itself - will also be mostly absorbed, it can still exert its regular effect. Facing against an Anti Cell, it comes down to simply "bludgeoning" it. Although this is a troublesome skill that can absorb even physical attacks boosted with Mana Burst, there exists one thing can deal an effective blow. The energy discharge of the holy sword Excalibur. The White Titan that had once appeared upon the surface was repulsed by the holy sword tempered in the inner sea of the Earth.[21]

Noble Phantasm[]

Before Sefar was defeated by the Holy Sword 14,000 years ago, before she fell to the ground, she had a sword in its hand.[14] Photon Ray, also known as the "Sword of Mars", originally belonged to the God of War, Ares, one of the 12 original pillars of nature. Its concept comes from ancient times, back to the first primitive cutting tools. Ares was the greatest enemy she had ever fought, so after she defeated him, she took his sword as a trophy. When SE.RA.PH noticed that she had become a sword wielder, she changed her class accordingly. Furthermore, the Sword of Mars also became part of her core, and as a result, she gained the power to manifest it at will, just like how any object Hero Altera holds becomes Photon Ray.[13]

    A massive mansion. Wait, that’s Caesar.2
    Sefar is the avatar that the Giant God Altera used when she appeared on Earth. Altera’s final form. This is the alternate form that the Altera within the Moon Cell created to destroy the Earth’s civilizations 14,000 years ago.
    First, she sent her data to the Earth’s surface, and created a giant of herself that was sixteen meters tall.
    Then, she sent it on a rampage as a titan, and began destorying the civilizations on the Earth’s surface.
    She used the power of the Anti-Cell to make animals giant as well, and used them as tools in her assault upon the humans of that era.
    Those animals, who destroyed what are now known as the Western European territories, were immortalized in cave paintings. (In the world of Extra, these are the murals found in Altamira cave.)
    She spread destruction everywhere she went, and fought with all of the gods who were protecting humanity, eventually triumphing over the majority of them.
    After defeeating “the concept of the War God,” she gained control of the Sword of the War God. (That is the reason why Greek mythology depicts Mars losing to the goddess Athena.)
    Altera’s might forced even the gods to retreat, but in the end, she was defeated by the hands of an mere human. That human was the wielder of the Holy Sword, also known as the Divine Armament, which was forged in the inner sea of the stars.
    Altera escaped from the battlefield in a near-death state and eventually perished in a desolate field far away. The cave paintings of the White Titan were made by the people of that land, who had witnessed her end.
    After quite some time, Altera’s remains became a relic that eventually formed a cave, which was later excavated by the elders of the Hunnic tribe.
    Sefar appears as the final boss in Nero, Tamamo, and Altera’s endings. Her distinctly alien appearance is quite captivating.

    Q: Can you explain a bit more about how the Atlantis Civilization ended?

    Nasu: Well that is the Type Moon World story right? In the Type Moon World, 14000 Years ago, Sefar came in and went around breaking down everything. Gods from other sect of divinity when Sefar arrived reacted it "Oh no a threat beyond the sky came down, what do we do?" and panic-ed and started making plans. While Atlantis because they were from space too, they were looking down at them a bit (laugh). They were acting very high and mighty, until they were easily defeated because of Sefar being an Anti-Foreign Civilization Specialty Weapon. Meanwhile, in the Greece Lostbelt, Zeus alone recognized "This is Dangerous" and immediately recognized, and forced the other 12 gods who didn't wanted to fuse, and forced them all with "If we don't fuse now, what do you think is gonna happen", fighting Sefar in what was approximately a draw and chasing it away. But in a normal Type Moon Senki World, the 12 Machine Gods didn't become serious and as a result Atlantis Civilization ended. And surviving remnant flowed to the Aegean Sea, which later became the foundation of the Greek Civilization, type of almost forceful story happened.

TYPE-MOON世界においては、1万4千年前にセファールがやってきて、ボコボコにされたからです。ほかの神話体系の連中は、セファールがやってきたときに「空からヤバいのが降ってきたぞ。どうする?」と慌てて対策をねっていたのですが、アトランティスは自分たちもほかの宇宙からやってきたので、舐めていたんです(笑)。そうしたら、セファールは本当に対異星文明特化型の兵器だったので、あっさりやられちゃったんです。一方、ゼウスが「これはヤバい!」といち早く気づいて、ほかの十一機神が合体したくないのを「今ここで合体しないでどうする」と無理やり合体して、ほぼ相打ち状態になってセファールを追い返したのが、異聞帯になった世界です。十二機神が本気にならなかったほうが、普通の型月伝奇世界なんです。それでアトランティスが滅んで、生き残りの残骸たちがエーゲ海まで流れ着いて、後のギリシャ文明の下地になったという。無理やりだけど、そういう伝奇感になっています。

    Giant Goddess Altera [AntiCell]
    An Anticell that fell to the moon, purged from the vanguard of a predatory wandering planet. 14,000 years ago(in the paleolithic era, at the dawning of the second age of the gods) this gigantic white goddess caused great damage to both Earth's civilizations and the Mooncell.
    From the wandering planet's perspective, it's just one of several weapons of mass destruction used to prey upon Earth's cultures. As a "Giant Goddess" Anticell, Altera is a type of vanuard that personally absorbs the mana of the civilation she's destroying, enlarging in size without reproducing until she has wiped out the civilization in question, exhausting its mana and effectively self-destructing.
    In the Early Dawn Territory/Zone (<Mimei Ryouiki>?) she is 16 meters in size, but that's only because her default height is set to be "10x the size of the people native to that civilization". From this initial condition she can assimilate electrons in order to enlarge in scale.
    The avatar she created on Earth, the Giant Goddess Altera, does have its growth capacity limited in relation to the force of the planet's gravity (goddamn Square-Cube Law), but within the Mooncell's cyberspace she can enlarge without limits. That being said, if her volume increases too greatly then her actions become weighted down and slowed, with her nervous transmissions taking far more time to reach her extremities. She therefore keeps it in mind to keep her actions as a Giant Goddess restrained to a somewhat moderate scale.

    Artoria [Servant]
    A mysterious heroine who briskly sets foot on the chaotic new SE.RA.PH.
    Like Iskandar, she is a Top Servant.
    Her true identity is shrouded in mystery, and there are no plans to reveal it during EXTELLA.
    She is here strictly to play a cameo role. Her stance is, "I don't really know anything about Altera, but all I have to do is defeat evil, right?" Because she is utterly free to do as she likes, she fits in no matter where she goes.
    Since she has no influence on the main story, she has no real reason to be concerned with its proceedings.
    Yet despite her seemingly unimportant role, Artoria also has the responsibility of cutting down and killing Altera with Excalibur if she becomes too much to handle. She is truly the ultimate doomsday device.

    Crest of the Wandering Star
    A skill unique to Titan Altera and the key skill in her character design.
    It allows her to take on a giant form in order to destroy civilization.
    This is a passive skill that allows Altera to absorb the lives, creations, and concepts she destroys as spiritron-information, making her grow even larger. It is not a skill that she can remove of her own volition.
    Her HP increases by an order of magnitude2 when she absorbs the same amount of mana as her current HP.
    When her body reaches a size that is twice as large as her previous proportions (at 16, 32, 64,128, 256, 512, and 1024 meters), all her parameters increase by one level as she transitions to the next part of her titan adjustment.
    (For example, her Strength is A-rank, so if you think of it as 150 points, adding one level at A+ rank would double that number, putting it at 300 points.)
    And if the Titan adjustment is added to that, 300 points at the first stage would become 3,000 at the second stage, 30,000 at the third stage, and so on. At the seventh stage, it would be 300,000,000.
    This is an energy mass on the scale of a star, comparable to the power level of the legendary Golden White Face’s nine-tailed form (387,420,489).
    This is just some extra trivia, but the “Crest of the Star” skill possessed by the Altera in Fate/Grand Order is missing one character.
