Vlad III (ヴラド三世, Vurado Sansei?) is a Berserker-class Servant summoned by Ritsuka Fujimaru in the Grand Orders of Fate/Grand Order.
Profile[]
Identity[]
The king of Romania and a hero.[2] Vlad is one of the greatest heroes of Romania, his most famous deed being repelling Mehmed II. Even Mehmed II, who had used tactics such as moving ships through land and had overthrown the Byzantine empire, couldn't stand up against the demon who put up impaled enemy soldiers for show. Then he became known as a hero in western europe, and as the embodiment of evil in western europe.[1]
Vlad could have disappeared in history as just the hero of a small country, with him not gaining global fame, but since he was used as the model for Bram Stoker's 'Dracula', his fame suddenly exploded. But he was not famous as the hero who defeated Mehmed II, but rather he became famous as the vampire of calamity that appeared in 'Dracula', Count Dracula.[1]
Furthermore, when being summoned as a Berserker and not as a Lancer, Vlad is summoned as a vampire, not as a hero. That is his current state. He is a monster that sucks blood, transforms into mist and bats, and destroys his enemies with stakes made inside his body.[1]
It seems embroidery was one of his hobbies in life, and even as a Berserker he retains this skill. Apparently he uses this to make stuff for fun in his free time. Thanks to his Mad Enhancement, he has accepted his state as a vampire, but his wish for the grail to eliminate his fame as a vampire remains the same.[1]
He doesn't mind being feared nor hated. He fought for his authority, for his people, and impaled soldiers to drive off enemies. A strict rule, merciless judgements, it would be normal for him to be accused of those things, but Vlad couldn't stand being despised as a monster he has no memory of, and his own self being forgotten in its shadow. No matter how many times he is defeated in a Holy Grail War, he will not give up. While his body burns with rage against ignorance, he will not stop fighting until he comes across the one who recognizes him as a hero.[1]
Appearance[]
Vlad III completely loses the "refined elegance" possessed in his normal Lancer state.[2]
Personality[]
Differing from his normal self who abhors the image of Dracula and wishes to wipe away the disgrace it caused him, Vlad III embraces it to become "an avatar of calamity who uses his vampiric powers without mercy." He still resents the idea of being summoned in such a state and still desires it's removal from his legacy, but he will generously work together with a Master so long as they did not deliberately summon him as a Berserker. Although he can converse properly despite his high level of Mad Enhancement, he requires a truly exceptional Master, or else he will quickly make to suck their blood. He will hold their relationship as that of between a king and retainer until the bitter end.[2]
Relationships[]
- Carmilla
- As another person who has also been recognized as a vampire, he feels pity seeing her proactively proclaim herself as one.[3]
- Elizabeth Báthory
- Contrary to Carmilla, Elizabeth rejects her future while treasuring her past, which Vlad finds charming. Also what's an idol?[3]
- Siegfried / Astolfo / Frankenstein / Chiron / Avicebron
Role[]
Fate/Grand Order[]
Dying Thoughts Manifestation Realm Traum: Life and Death of a Certain Fantasy[]
Vlad accompanies Chaldea into the Traum Singularity.
Halloween Event: Singing Pumpkin Castle Adventure[]
Summoned by Elizabeth Báthory using a fragment of the Grail she found in Orleans, Vlad III welcomes Ritsuka's party when they encounter him. He comments on Kiyohime’s statement that no Berserker surpasses her in elegance and breeding by saying neither of them can return from the wicked paths they walked. He says it’s time to entertain the group, understanding as the ruler of a nation the importance of a festival. However, a little insulted by Romani Archaman calling him the only sane person in the event, Vlad decides to entertain with a dance of blood. He admits though his talents lies more in embroidery, and offers Mash a lesson so she can decorate Ritsuka’s uniform. After the group slay his monsters, he thanks Elizabeth for creating the event, calling her one of the few Servants that can shamelessly spread such sweet delusions. He reveals Elizabeth possesses a fragment of the Grail that she found in Orleans. He calls it a blessing Elizabeth found it, considering her the most harmless Servant in Orleans. Kiyohime calls Elizabeth not harmless, but Vlad comments Elizabeth has the mind of a child simply seeking her own entertainment. He fights the group but is defeated. Though he comes out of the fight with nary a scratch, Vlad says his role is now done. He tells the group to continue on towards Elizabeth.
Abilities[]
Normally summoned as Lancer, being summoned as Berserker is an extremely rare circumstance where "his notoriety is based on the very shame he wishes to erase."
Class Skills[]
- Mad Enhancement (EX Rank): He's gone mad yet his thoughts are clear, even his wish to the grail remains unchanged. This makes him somewhat of an unusual Berserker, however this is because he fights while accepting his vampiric abilities, which is the biggest abnormality to someone like Vlad.[1]
Personal Skills[]
- Bloodsucking (A Rank): One of Vlad's vampiric abilities. He can turn others even servants into slaves by sucking their blood. The one who has their blood sucked enters a state of living in death, and usually obeys whoever sucked their blood. Also, since this counts not as an attack but rather a show of affection, it cannot be defended against even if you were to posses 'a body which rejects all attacks'.[1]
- Shapeshift (C Rank): One of Vlad's vampiric abilities. He can transform into mist, or countless bats. It's extremely useful while fighting at melee range, but not so much against attacks which cover a wide area. While its unknown if Berserker can do the same, in Fate/Apocrypha it was said that Vlad could also transform into people or a giant dog after becoming a vampire.[1]
- Battle Continuation (A Rank): One of Vlad's vampiric abilities. He does not know when to give up. Can fight even after sustaining fatal wounds, his performance receiving no penalty regardless of the state of his body.[1]
Noble Phantasms[]
As a Berserker, Vlad's main Noble Phantasm is Legend of Dracula. By transforming into Dracula, Vlad loses his other Noble Phantasms and Skills, but gains an enourmous boost to his physical abilities, the ability to transform into mist and animals, self-healing, and charming mystic eyes. However he also gains weaknesses to sunlight and holiness. In this class, this Noble Phantasm is always activated by default.[1]
Vlad's other Noble Phantasm is Kazikli Bey. In this class, it doesn't reach the level of his Lancer counterpart, but is still powerful enough to annihilate a single Servant.[1]
