Wolfgang Amadeus MozartWP (ヴォルフガング・アマデウス・モーツァルトWP, Vorufugangu Amadeusu Mōtsaruto?), Class Name Caster (キャスター, Kyasutā?), is a Caster-class Servant summoned by Ritsuka Fujimaru in the Grand Orders of Fate/Grand Order.

Profile[]

Identity[]

He is a musician and one of the world's leading genius composer. He is a person from the 18th century, his musical sensitivity is up to abnormal and as an unwavering prodigy, he left behind many musical pieces in posterity.[1]

He was also devoted to the world of the magic. There is a legend which Mozart had connections with a certain secret society that still exists.[1] He was involved with the Prague Association, and through them was acquainted with Alessandro di Cagliostro.[3]

History[]

He had been called the prodigal child when it comes to performances of piano and stringed instrument, having been invited at the age of 8 to perform for the Empress of Holy Roman Empire, which had been dominated by the House of Hapsburg, Maria TheresaWP. At the age of 14, he had managed to write out of memory the polyphonic music that had never been taken out from the Sistine Chapel of Vatican for a hundred years just by hearing it once. There are even anecdotes where he put out a composition without corrections, revisions, or even a rough draft.[2]

The child beloved by God. The marvelous genius. Even in Germany and Austria later years of the musical world, where it is said that no figure able to surpass BeethovenWP could be born, he is a special, unparalleled, perfect existence, extolled by the many geniuses there starting with BrahmsWP.[2]

In his childhood, he was invited to the palace in ViennaWP and met the girl who shined the brightest: Maria. In other words, the tragic princess Marie Antoinette. When he was still a mortal, he died earlier than Maria. If he had lived, he would not allow her to end in such a cruel outcome from the Guillotine.[1]

Mozart was friends with a fellow musician, Antonio Salieri, who even taught both Mozart's protégé, SussmayrWP, and his own son, Franz Xaver Wolfgang MozartWP. However, after Mozart's death, Salieri was accused by some to have killed Mozart, a baseless rumor that eventually spread across the world.

Mozart was originally intended to be the host of the Demon God Amdusias, but according to him he "sold his soul to music" and so spared himself the fate of being possessed.

Appearance[]

Personality[]

A supreme holy man with complete and utter sincerity when it comes to music.
As a human, he only does what he himself wants to do, without understanding or comprehending the feelings of others; a really problematic guy who lives only according to his whims. Due to the music that he plays is that of the highest quality, his character is of one that does not think of people or a relation with them; a personality that raises a certain kind of image in the eyes of the people. Namely, a man like that of the devil.

The person himself is fond of talking with people comparatively, jokes in particular. Generally, his jokes are ones related to music, hard to be understood. The ones that he REALLY likes, the dirty jokes, are intentionally sealed (because his beloved Marie told him to). Still, occasionally he blurts them out anyways.[2]

His music was always devoted to one woman. Secretly, he is delighted to be in the same attribute as his beloved person.[1]

At first, he regarded the Master as someone with a little bit of something in terms of magic, but practically none in terms of music. But as the level raises, he began to hold an interest in him. "Now that I listen to it, it's not bad of a rhythm. No, it's not his voice. Not his words. But his existence." But in the end, it's nothing more than an interest. He realizes that he possesses an inhuman personality, so he wishes to put some distance against those close to him precisely because they are close to him.[2]

His wish upon the Holy Grail is "happiness for Marie Antoinette". For her, shining as she arrived at such a cruel end, to listen for the greatest of piano performance that the current him could do.[2]

Role[]

Fate/Grand Order[]

First Singularity: Orleans[]

Mozart and Marie Antoinette are Stray Servants travelling together. They arrive in La Charite to help Ritsuka's party while they were being overwhelmed Jeanne Alter's Servants. At Marie's behest, Mozart uses his Noble Phantasm to hold Carmilla and Vlad III off so the group can escape.

After escaping, Mozart cautions Marie when she agrees to help the group fight Jeanne Alter. He notes neither combat experience of the others, and that their opponents are powerful. The group then discusses how Jeanne Alter’s Servants have Mad Enhancement regardless of their backgrounds. Romani Archaman attributes this to the Holy Grail. Jeanne d'Arc theorizes Marie and Mozart’s summoning is the result of the Grail resisting the reversed causality of it having a holder before the Grail War even began. Later that night, the group defeat Martha, who tested their skills rather than merely observe like Jeanne Alter ordered. Before she disappears, Martha tells them to go to Lyon. There they’ll find a dragon slayer who can slay Jeanne Alter’s personal dragon.

The next day, Marie gathers intel about Lyon from a nearby town while the others wait outside since Jeanne is currently feared as the “Dragon Witch“. She reports Lyon was destroyed a while ago, yet despite that the group decides to search the town. While searching Lyon, the group encounters and kills Phantom of the Opera. Romani Archaman then warns them a dragon and three Servants are approaching, but the group decides to continue their search. Marie and Mozart stay behind to fight while the others head for the castle that Romani directed them to. After the others leave the castle with Siegfried, the group is confronted by Jeanne Alter and her dragon, Fafnir. Jeanne Alter commands Fafnir to incinerate them, but Jeanne And Mash protect everyone from the dragon’s flames with their Noble Phantasms. The group then escapes after Siegfried uses Balmung to drive Fafnir away.

While escaping, they encounter a French army being attacked by wyverns commanded by Charles-Henri Sanson and Lancelot. While Jeanne goes to fight the wyverns, Marie fights Sanson with the others' help. They then fight Lancelot with Jeanne after she drove Carmilla off when Marshall Gilles and his soldiers hit the wyverns with cannonfire. After Lancelot is killed, Sanson escapes with Carmilla. Gilles asks Jeanne if it's truly her, but she doesn't answer so to not endanger his position. The group then continues to escape

Arriving at an abandoned fort, the group learns Siegfried is cursed. The curses’ multiplicity prevents Jeanne from removing them herself, so she and the others split up to search for a saint Servant to help. Mozart goes with Ritsuka, Mash, and Siegfried.

They arrrive at Thiers, where they see Elizabeth Báthory and Kiyohime bickering. They defend the town from an enemy assault and fight Elizabeth and Kiyohime when Ritsuka insults them. After they’re defeated, Ritsuka explains the situation to them. Kiyohime says she met Georgios before out west, so Mash contacts Jeanne and Marie who went out that way. Jeanne confirms they just contacted Georgios. However, the group lose contact when the town under Georgios’ protection is attacked by Jeanne Alter.

Rendezvousing with the others at Thiers, Jeanne tells everyone about Marie’s sacrifice. Putting off her sacrifice as something Marie would do, Mozart goes off somewhere until the rest are ready to leave. Later that night, Mash talks with Mozart, who gives her some insight into human nature. He then has a conversation with Jeanne, thanking her for granting Marie's wish for a friend.

The next day, the group agree with a frontal assault against Orleans; Mozart says he'll distract the wyverns. On the battlefield, an insane Sanson confronts him and the others. Oddly enough though, Mozart insulting his infatuation with Marie returns Sanson’s sanity. Deciding to avenge Marie’s death, Mozart kills Sanson with Ritsuka and Mash’s help. He stays behind with Siegfried and Georgios while the rest proceed into the castle to fight Jeanne Alter, who retreated from the battlefield after Fafnir was killed. After the Singularity is resolved, Mozart commends Ritsuka for a masterful performance and disappears.

Final Singularity: Solomon[]

Mozart is one of the "Orleans" Singularity Servants summoned to aid Ritsuka.

Hokusai Trial Quest[]

Mozart appears in Ritsuka's dream of Edo playing the part of Utagawa Hiroshige. Taking advantage of Katsushika Hokusai's absence, he and Utagawa Toyokuni give the police false intent that there is a Hokusai impostor in Ekou-in. This was done to see if Hokusai would show himself and to tarnish his reputation by getting his disciples arrested.

When the police leave Ekou-in empty-handed, Toyokuni notes the fact that Hokusai never appeared means not even his disciples know where he is. This means Hokusai won't be able before the shogun, Tokugawa Ienari, for the painting performance tomorrow. But Hiroshige suspects though that Hokusai's daughter, Oei, will be sent in as a substitute. Needing to ruin Hokusai's reputation, Toyokuni says they need to formulate a plan with Hoeidou. which Hiroshige will be part of.

The next day, Hiroshige and Oei appear before Ienari at Ryougoku Bridge. The two then compete to see whose painting of a treasure ship will satisfy the shogun's taste. The shogun is impressed by both of them and decides to elevate their positions. However, the next painting competition requires the loser to commit seppuku. Not wanting a promising painter of her school to die, Toyoukuni asks to be allowed to assist Hiroshige, which the shogun agrees to.

However, the Outer God's influence soon corrupts Hiroshige, Toyokuni, and Ienari when Oei is considered an obstacle to its plan to enter the real world through the using Hokusai as its vessel. After the three disappear following the ensuing fight, the Outer God's presence disappears.

Anastasia: Permafrost Empire[]

Mozart was one of the Servants summoned to the Russian Lostbelt during the world's death throes, however he is gone by the time the Shadow Border arrives three months later.

He was brought before Ivan the Terrible and convinced to keep the Tsar asleep with his music, which he agreed to on the condition that Antonio Salieri, should he appear, be allowed to kill him. Mozart was able to continue his performance for two months straight, playing piano and the entire orchestra as required, and even eliciting praise from Ivan for his lullabies. However, the harsh environment and sheer exhaustion proved too much for his frail Spirit Origin, and by the time Salieri appeared before him, Mozart admitted that he felt worse than when he died of illness.

Salieri vehemently refused to kill him, as it would "make the rumors a reality", so instead, Mozart placed a curse on him: forcing Salieri into "being Mozart" and taking his place as court musician. This forced Lamenting Exterior upon Salieri and caused him to believe himself to be "Amadeus Alter" for a time. Mozart then reflected on how he had the world's greatest monster dreaming to the sound of his music and the responsibility and power that implied, before fading away.

Interlude[]

Symphony of the Heroic Spirits[]

Mozart is kicked out of a tavern for refusing to pay for his drink, something he believes he shouldn't have to pay for due to his musical talent. Having his instruments taken from him until he pays, Mozart with Mash goes to defeat bandits who've been attacking merchant wagons. After being paid for capturing the bandits, Mozart pays his various bar tabs, then afterwards he goes off to have dinner.

Abilities[]

As a Heroic Spirit, his music magic derived from OrpheusWP and, according to legends, it has a deep affinity to Solomon's magic. Amadeus is the magus of music. It holds the literal meaning, as well as an exemplification of him being a prodigious musician. As a Caster, he establishes attacks with musical magic using sound as a medium.[2]

According to Mozart, he was a possible candidate for becoming the Demon God Amdusias as he is from one of the 72 magus bloodlines that would become agents for the Demon Gods. However, he sold his soul to music rather than to demons, with someone else becoming Amdusias instead.

Skills[]

Class Skills[]

Personal Skills[]

  • Protection of the Music God (Fake) (EX Rank): Originally, this is a Skill indicating being given the divine protection of Muses, the goddesses of music. It is the capacity to recognize and identify any and all sorts of sound, and it makes it possible to perform a prodigious musical performance. In addition, it also grants a plus correction on the usage of musical magic. Amadeus is able to display this Skill and effect equals to it with his own ability by means of his natural pitch sense, talent, and effort.
  • Appreciation of the Arts (B Rank): Comprehension in regards to work and object of art. Should he take a look on a Noble Phantasm that possesses an artistic anecdote, there is a high chance of figuring out its true name.

Noble Phantasm[]

Caster's Noble Phantasm is Requiem for Death. The mystical tune that has its origins on the legend where prior to his death, the death god requested of him to compose a funeral march. Those who hears this composition will have to do a resistance check on MGI and LCK. Should the check result in failure, then all of their physical status are forcefully degraded by 2 ranks, and they receives powerful continous damage that bypasses all sorts of defensive magic, ability, or armor. Should the check result in a success, then their status degrades for only a rank, and the continuous damage is reduced by a half.

Development[]

Creation and Conception[]

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was designed by PFALZ in Fate/Grand Order.[1] His scenario writer is Kinoko Nasu and Hikaru Sakurai in Fate/Grand Order.[2]

Comment from Illustrator[]

"During the initial stages, I have him concealed with mantle just like Jack-chan, and tries to give off the feeling that as he opens his mantle the clothing themselves looks as if it becomes a glorious opera stage. Which is why there are parts that imitate stained glass and curtains. Like how one would understand from seeing the drawing of his last ascension, with large influence from the movie Amadeus at first I put up a design that blends in various of homages, like Amadeus' father's clothes, or his form when returning to the requiem, but midway I went with emphasizing his arrangement, so it feels like the original prototype design has mostly been removed." (PFALZ)[2]
