World War III

World War III^WP (第三次世界大^?) is a global war resulting from mass simultaneous Holy Grail Wars performed across the world in the World of Fate/Requiem.

History

While initially secret rituals, there began conflicts between countries and terrorism due to their existence, so the Holy Grail Wars eventually entered public knowledge. Mass drone warfare began, reaching a peak of ten thousand drones for every ground soldier. Causing mass destruction, marine life and seabirds were massively culled and marine mammals were possibly driven to extinction. Areas outside the Mosaic City were rendered as wastelands, Cape Canaveral^WP in the United States of America particularly being one of the first battlegrounds. The area ended up covered in craters filled with unclean water, and it was said that, "Florida’s beautiful waters would never return again."

During the war, Foreigner-class Servants became feared and avoided as symbols of disaster that brought enormous suffering upon friend and foe alike.

World War III eventually ceased after Chitose Manazuru managed to stop the rampant Holy Grail Wars, converting them to a tournament-like structure and ending up as the winner. While the Mosaic City managed to flourish due to her wish to divide the Holy Grail, areas outside the Mosaic City were filled with remaining drones.

Many people became refugees wandering the land to avoid the destruction brought on by both the war and natural disasters. After the war ended and Mosaic City was established, the city welcomed these refugees in. However, eventually Mosaic City stopped accepting the refugees, and people coming from outside the city's bounded field have become exceedingly rare.
