The World of Magecraft (魔術世界, Majutsu Sekai?), also called the World of Magi (魔術師世界, Majutsu-shi Sekai?), refers to the workings of Magi throughout the world, and, in a more general sense, to the supernatural side of the Nasuverse as a whole where Magi live and interact separate from the rest of human society.
Characteristics[]
The World of Magecraft is kept separate and secret from the mundane world by way of the Concealment of Mystery (神秘の隠匿, Shinpi no Intoku?), enforced by the Mage's Association as its first principle.[1][2] The Department of Policies manages this enforcement, with their management being divided into three tasks: the preservation of the World of Magecraft, control over the Magi contained within it, and mediation between them and the mundane world.[3] Likewise, Sealing Designation Enforcers protect the laws of the World of Magecraft.[4]
Magecraft organizations[]
- Mage's Association
- Clock Tower (London) - the greatest power in the World of Magecraft,[5] its headquarters, and the highest institute of learning.[6]
- Atlas (Egypt) — one of the three major branches of the Mage's Association specialized in Alchemy.[7][8]
- Wandering Sea (Northern Europe) - one of the three great organizations in the World of Magecraft, said to be the primordial, final "wall".[9]
- Prague Association/Central Association of Alchemists[10] (Czech Republic) - Classical alchemists and "Magi of finance"[11] pursuing the transmutation of elements. On extremely bad terms with Atlas.[10][7][8]
- Sponheim Abbey - An institution that works closely with the Clock Tower.
- Thule Society - Hoarders of the original Runes, which they hold onto and keep secret even while Rune Magecraft is declining.[12]
- Yggdmillennia (Romania) - Declares independence from the Mage's Association in the world of Fate/Apocrypha.
- Spiral Manor (China) - Magus organization in China that, while weaker in influence, may have more overall members than the Mage's Association. Currently holding a feigned nonaggression pact with the Mage's Association and Middle Eastern Magi.[13]
- Summit Court (China) - A smaller Magus organization in China who retained their rights to connect to their foundations from the Age of Gods. Ruled by the Ten Officials, who are all Xian. Wuzhiqi was one of the Ten Officials, but was later banished from it.
- Middle Eastern Magi - Currently holding a feigned nonaggression pact with the Mage's Association and Guan.[13]
- Faldeus' organization (United States of America) - An unnamed organization founded by the ancestors of Faldeus Dioland, it is unique in that, unlike other organizations, it is under the direct control of the mundane American government, to the point of being considered a department of the United States federal government. Its goals are often more mundane than mystical, due to it serving the national interests of the United States, but it is also known to be aiming for the complete degradation of Magic into Magecraft through the advancement of human technology. On bad terms with the Clock Tower due to its apparent hostility to the concealment of Mystery as enforced by the Assocation.
- Scladio Family (United States of America) - A mafia-style criminal organization based in the United States which employs a great number of Magi who have fallen out of favor with larger organizations such as the Mage's Association. Despite their rise to power being fairly recent, their unorthodox methods of operation make it hard for large magical organizations like the Association or the Church to control them. Has a number of ties to the United States government unrelated to Faldeus' organization.
- Chaldea Security Organization (Antarctica) - Created with collaboration from the Mage's Association and the United Nations, and unique for its synthesis of Magecraft and technology.
Other organizations[]
- Holy Church - The side of the Church that works within the same sphere as the Mage's Association, and the largest organization in the World of Magecraft when it comes to sheer numbers.[14] Members of the Church often make use of and possess a lot of knowledge regarding Magecraft, but do not typically consider themselves Magi, or even refer to their magic foundation as a type of Magecraft.[15]
- The Twenty-seven Dead Apostle Ancestors (Remake) - While Dead Apostles in general are hostile to and prey upon humanity, some have dealings with the Association and other human Magecraft organizations. The Mage's Association are known to be one of the organizations monitoring the Aylesbury Valesti.
- United Nations - The United Nations has connections to the World of Magecraft, acting as one of the supervising bodies over Chaldea Security Organization along with the Mage's Association.

The institute Sion belonged to, and one of the three major branches of the Association. Located in the Atlas mountains of Egypt, it is a place where those dedicated to the study of alchemy gather. Colloquially known as the Giant's Pit.
Unlike the modern alchemy that rose to prominence in the middle ages, the alchemy studied by Atlas could be said to be the progenitor of sorcery. For some reason they are on extraordinarily bad terms with the Prague Association, and even the Clock Tower, the very heart of the Association, keeps their distance.
In order to avoid the "end" proven by their first director, they endlessly create and dispose of weapon after weapon.
There is a saying in the Prague Association: "Lift not the seal of Atlas, lest ye destroy the world seven times over."
…The reason being that the weapons created there to save the world are ultimately nothing more than tools that will further its destruction.

Unlike the modern alchemy that rose to prominence in the middle ages, the alchemy studied by Atlas could be said to be the progenitor of magecraft, and an attempt to unravel the truth of the world.

Though calling it “one of the three major branches of the Association” sounds nice, in reality it is more like an independent think tank. They have been known, on rare occasions, to loan out their alchemists to other mage’s associations and even the Holy Church upon request.
In order to hire an Atlas alchemist, however, one of the written contracts issued by the Atlas Institute is required. Only seven of these contracts were ever issued, and the Atlas Institute considers their recovery a top priority.
- ↑ Fate/Grand Order: Cosmos in the Lostbelt - Götterdämmerung: Eternal Ice-Flame Century Official Release Sypnosis

[] Fate/side material - Encyclopedia: The Mage's Association [Organization name], p.073 [T] The Mage's Association [Organization name]
An organization created to protect those who seek to learn sorcery, regardless of nationality or field of study. (On paper, anyway.)
Their mission is the management, concealment, and advancement of sorcery.
In order to protect themselves from that which would threaten them (be it the Church, rival organizations of magi, or the monstrosities that punish humans who break taboos), they accumulated military might.
In order to further the advancement (degeneration) of sorcery, they built research facilities.
And, in order to deter crimes committed with sorcery, they created laws.
Their headquarters is located in London, and goes by the unofficial name of "The Clock Tower".
It seems that in the beginning the Association was divided into three great branches, including the original associations that predate the Clock Tower. That is, the "Giant's Pit" of Egypt, and a cluster of associations based in northern Europe called the "Sea of Estray". However, ever since the Clock Tower became the headquarters, mingling between the branches has been on the decline.
Also, they are fundamentally incompatible with the sorcery foundation of the Middle East and the ideological sorcery of mainland China, and the three groups are currently feigning nonaggression.

The other side of an ubiquitous major religion.
They preached the Lord's teachings, and did not tolerate anything that violated their dogma.
On the surface, they assumed "heresies" did not exist, but there were zealots amongst them who wished to ostracize the heretics.
Thus the "Heretic Hunters" were born and specialized, becoming an enormous department within the Holy Church.
They were the Executors. Their missions included Demon-slaying, elimination of heretics, and proper regulation of Mysteries that fell into the hands of the populace.
Of course, the Holy Church's relationship with the Mages' Association, whose mission was to conceal magecraft, was very poor. The two groups had crossed blades numerous times to date. (Currently there is a truce, providing a temporary respite.)
Against their greatest foe, the monsters known as vampires (READ: Blood Suckers), the Mages' Association occasionally provided assistance.
Kotomine was responsible for the control and collection of relics. He had the role of an Executor of the Assembly of the Eighth Sacrament.
The arms forces of the Holy Church consisted of the excellent fighters known as Executors, the Knights that each church held reserve, and the monsters known as the Burial Agency hidden within the headquarter of the Holy Church.
The Holy Church was the largest organization in the world of Fate. For those who fell outside of humanity, the Holy Church was the greatest enemy.
