XianWP (仙, Sen?, localized as "Sage"), also known as Xianren (仙人, Sennin?, localized as "hermit"), are TaoistWP immortals in Chinese mythology. Some Xian are also ZhenrenWP (真人, Shinjin?, "True Human") which are powerful incarnated Elementals similar to True Ancestors.[1]
Characteristics[]
Xian is a term for Taoist immortals in Chinese mythology,[1] it includes naturally created Zhenren that are Divided Spirits from the Fusang Tree, humans who ascended through training and Shenxian (神仙, Shinsen?, "Immortal", localized as "Divine Xian"), powerful higher order beings that are Chinese mythology's equivalent to genuine Gods (as opposed to Divine Spirits). The Xian are beings who sought eternal truth who perfected their bodies, achieving eternal life and youth through secret Xian Arts.[2] The Shenxian are beings who possess overwhelming Saint Graphs and spiritual standings and are covered in powerful Mystery. Taigong Wang describes his teacher Yuanshi Tianzun as the greatest Shenxian ever.[3] It was possible to become a Shenxian during the Age of Gods through training, as Taigong Wang became one at the end of his training.[4]
According to ancient Xian lore, female deities are capable of out-of-body experiences, while male deities need to gather Magical Energy to create temporary bodies. Wuzhiqi's female remote body is a solid, physical body, which suggests she's a male deity.[5]
Consort Yu is a Zhenren in addition to being a Xiannu (仙女, Senjo?, literally "female Xian", localized as "Fairy"). She demonstrates traits and abilities similar to a True Ancestor, such as rapid regenerative capabilities that make her nearly unkillable, as well as the ability to draw upon the inexhaustible Magical Energy of the world and use it as her own.[6]
In Eastern Magecraft, the power of flight is seen as proof of being a Xian.[7]
Xian Arts[]
The Xian and Shenxian use Philosophy Magecraft for their Mysteries called Xian Arts (仙術, Senjutsu?) and FangshuWP (方術, Hōjutsu?) (Taoist Arts). They utilize them through their Philosophy Keys (思想鍵紋, Shisō Kagimon?, localized as "Thought Keys"GO),[8] which connects them to the Philosophy Foundation, a supergiant Mystic Code that is fused with the planet that was created by the Ten Officials of the Summit Court during the Age of Gods. It is effectively a simulated, artificial Root that acts as the foundation for Philosophy Magecraft, and its creation took such intense coordination among the Ten Officials that replicating the effort would not be possible in modern times.[9]
The Xian all use the same Philosophy Foundation, but the spells they are allowed to use are restricted, only those who possess special Philosophy Keys are able to access the Privileged Domains of the Philosophy Foundation which allows them to use Shenxian level Magecraft.[4]
Qin Shi Huang was able to keep the Xian Arts working for over 2000 years, and could produce talismans that uses a spell capable of sealing away Gods. With it, they were able to seal Tamamo Vitch Koyanskaya's Saint Graph preventing her from fighting back.[10] Through the use of biochemistry based on Xian Arts and the Fusang Tree's secrets, Qin Shi Huang was able to make huge leaps in medical science allowing him to eradicate all manner of disease, hunger, and pestilence, and through elixirs he was able to enhance his soldiers and defeat all the other countries in the world. After witnessing the effectiveness of the medicine that Qin Shi Huang created, Sherlock Holmes doubted that modern medicine or Magecraft would be able to make a drug that was as effective.[2]
Many Xian utilized Baobei (宝具, Paopei?) in addition to their Xian Arts, such as Taigong Wang who uses the God-Striking Whip. Taiyi Zhenren was able to create multiple different weapons and constructs such as Nezha's body, a living Baobei and he gifted her many different weapons such as the Demon-Slaying Sword, the Phantom-Slaying Blade, the Ghost-Binding Rope, the Evil-Conquering Staff, the Embroidered Sphere, the Wind Fire Wheels, and the Fire-Tipped Spear.[11]
Ashiya Douman was able to make use of a Pseudo-Philosophy Key to utilize a powerful Xian Art spell which originated from Vulture Peak, that according to him could only be stopped by an Anti-Purge Defense.[12]
Fusang Tree[]
The Fusang TreeWP is a special tree that is known as a "tree of life" as it is the the crystallization of the secrets of the Xian, a treasury of wisdom that harbors the Mysteries of all kinds of life.[2] The tree is folded into itself in its own special pocket dimension, allowing it to store vast amounts of information on the secrets of all life.[13] The Fusang Tree is considered the key to the Xian realm's Mysteries, as one can use it for a vast array of biochemical applications through Xian Arts that is impossible to do with other Magecraft systems according to Holmes.[6]
True Xian are said to be something akin to Divided Spirits of the Fusang Tree acording to Qin Shi Huang. Through this connection, Consort Yu was able to to possess the Fantasy Tree Mayall as she was a Zhenren and a true Xiannu.[13]

Creation and Conception[]
Before Gilles de Rais was chosen for Fate/Zero', Gen Urobuchi had trouble thinking of a Caster-class Servant for the Fourth Holy Grail War, so he asked Kinoko Nasu if he can use a Chinese Xian. It was when Nasu explained the Western-only rule of the Fuyuki system. Furthermore, Nasu states that Xian would be too strong.[16]

Profile
The foremost elite military commander of Heavens, Marshal of the Central Altar・Crown Prince Nezha.
She was reborn from a lotus flower after meeting a gruesome death in the world of mortals.
Boasting the military achievement of sealing away the apparition of Jiushiliu Dong, she is the greatest rival of the Great Sage Equal to Heaven・Sun Wukong (or so she thinks).
Level 1 Bond
Height/Weight: 164cm・57kg
Source: “Investiture of the Gods”, “Journey to the West”, etc.
Region: China
Alignment: Neutral Good Gender: Female
Level 2 Bond
Originally a minor deity from Hindu mythology called Nalakuvara, she was transmitted across China as a guardian deity of Buddhism, becoming the boy god・Crown Prince Nezha by being adopted into Taoism. Even now, she is intimately worshiped in the East Asia region centered on China.
Appears in the “Investiture of the Gods” as a central character.
In the “Journey to the West”, she was recruited to subjugate *** as he rampaged in Heavens and was often dispatched by Shangdi in order to help in the travel of Xuanzang’s party.
Level 3 Bond
Di Fei Shuang Ling, Huo Jian Qiang(1)
Rank: A Type: Anti-Army Noble Phantasm
An incandescent charge attack in which she dashes up to the sky with the Feng Huo Lun(2)’s super-acceleration and then literally becomes one with her spear for a charging descent.
A bold move in which Nezha (who conjectured a decisive match with Great Sage Equal to Heaven・Sun Wukong) attempts to draw maximum power of her Noble Phantasm as a Lancer - the Huo Jian Qiang.
Level 4 Bond
To begin with, Nezha is not a human.
Rather, she is an existence somewhat between a human and an Xian, born by making the Cintamani stone that the Xian of Mt. Kulun, Taiyi Zhenren, dropped on the world of mortals as her core.
Other than the Paopei (treasures) that she was said to possess from the moment of her birth - the Qian Kun Quan (Universe Ring) and Hun Tian Ling (Red Armillary Sash) - Taiyi Zhenren also bestowed Nezha with Paopei at every opportunity. Those are the “Zhan Yao Jian”, “Kan Yao Dao”, “Fu Yao Suo”, "Jiang Mo Chu” “Tou Qiu”, “Feng Huo Lun” and “Huo Jian Qiang” (Fire-tipped Spear).
Level 5 Bond
Afterwards, despite many turns and twists, Nezha was resurrected as spirit of a lotus flower. Her revival had the assistance of not only Taiyi Zhenren, but also Shakyamuni.
Having been summoned as a Lancer, she is deeply tinged with the personality as a guardian of Buddhism that appears in the “Journey to the West”. Were she summoned as Nezha’s cruel disposition, from right before she committed suicide, she would probably have turned into a Berserker.
Interlude
...incidentally, Taiyi Zhenren was very indifferent regarding the gender of his creation. To begin with, he treated Nezha as a child that had yet to develop any secondary sexual characteristics.
In other words, Nezha’s body after being revived ended up being configured with a different gender from that of her previous life, but by then it was already too late.
This is the reason why Nezha displays an awkward attitude towards the topic of gender, even though she has pride on her own body’s origins and performance.

- ↑ Fate/Grand Order: Cosmos in the Lostbelt - Hell Realm Mandala, Heiankyo - Flash of Roaring Thunder, Act 15: Sakata Kintoki Is Here!
