Yuugo Ando (安藤 裕吾, Andō Yūgo^?) is a subordinate of Mario Gallo Bestino sent by the Holy Church to oversee events in Souya, Japan in the Tsukihime Remake series.

Profile

Background

Yuugo's father is Japanese, but he lived overseas for most of his life. In 2011, three years prior to the events of Tsukihime -A piece of blue glass moon-, he was run out of his hometown after he attempted to act as a whistleblower on the actions of a corrupt priest. His lover at the time backstabbed him in exchange for money, which led to him being forced to flee town, ultimately ending up in his father's home country. He was mired in financial troubles shortly before being assigned to deal with the events in Souya, taking out a ¥60,000 loan a month after paying back a ¥30,000 debt to the same bank.

He has a position in Souya's local police force, acting as a plant for the Church within the authorities.

Appearance

Yuugo is a man with spiky brown hair and beady eyes. He is well-dressed, wearing a black suit jacket and dress pants over an orange dress shirt with a black striped necktie, along with black and red shoes. On his jacket is fastened a silver pin in the shape of a coat of arms that incorporates a cross, a symbol also worn by his coworker.

Personality

He is somewhat flippant and lazy, talking back to his boss and bemoaning having to do grunt work for him, but does his job without question anyways. He strongly dislikes the dirty work of having to deal directly with vampire attacks. Mario dislikes him for having no sense of urgency when it comes to serious matters.

He seems to be very religious relative even to his fellow Church agents, disapproving of Noel’s lack of dedication to her faith when undercover, and stating she should have been placed in a Catholic missionary school where the Lord’s Prayer is recited in homeroom.

Role

Tsukihime

He performs clean-up duties on the scenes of Vlov Arkhangel’s attacks under Mario’s orders, and aids Mario in his search for Roa's immortality research.

When interrogating Shiki about the vampire attacks in Arcueid's route, does so using his position as a local police officer.

Abilities

While he is not an executor, he has some skill with a gun, using it to kill low-ranking undead often left remaining at the locations of Dead Apostle attacks.

Development

Creation and Conception

Takashi Takeuchi designed him as a smoothly dressed character to contrast him with Mario. He was supposed to be an “out-of-place adult” similar to Noel.

He and Karius Berlusconi have detailed backstories that will be revealed at a later point, but are planned to remain side characters in any future appearances.
